Sitting Still Problems
Like a lot of other things, I’ve lost a lot of patience for…patient things? The time-to-reward payoff is turning into a hassle. Maybe it’s just a phase?
There doesn’t seem like there’s enough time in the day to get lost inside an hour long ambient record anymore (not to mention the two hour reflection period after and the post-reflection nap and the re-listen). That’s fine, though. There are alternatives out there. That’s not a bad thing.
In the small business world, that’s called a “pivot”.
Collect Vibrations is this wild and dancy thing. It’s also kind of like a really bright patchwork quilt with rough stitching around each panel. Full of slightly psychedelic vignettes that lean more towards the indie electronic angle of the spectrum than the fuzzy guitar of way back when.
It’s a fun spin, digging into beats that initially play out like a hip hop record, but switch (ahem, pivot) and sound something like the Polyphonic Spree meets Nosaj Thing, something made most obvious on the video-gamey “Five Fingers”.
Solid little electronic album with enough sound to make any mother proud.
